Student E-Mail Services

As Balıkesir University, we are strengthening our technological infrastructure to constantly improve the quality of our education and provide a better academic experience for our students. In this context, a new e-mail system has been implemented to facilitate the communication and information access processes for all our students.

A special e-mail address has been automatically created for each of our students, which includes their student number and has the "@baun.edu.tr" extension. For example, the e-mail address for a student with the student number 12345678 will be "12345678@baun.edu.tr".

These e-mail addresses have been activated on the University's Student Information System (OBS), and all official announcements regarding education will be made through these addresses. Furthermore, these e-mail addresses must be used when communicating with our academic staff and administrative units.

The passwords for your e-mail accounts have been created by adding the expression "+Ab" immediately after your Turkish ID (TC) number. For example, if your Turkish ID number is 12345678901, the password for your e-mail account will be "12345678901+Ab".

You can access your e-mail system (Zimbra) from the Balıkesir University homepage (www.balikesir.edu.tr), via the Student Tab or the "Student E-Mail" link located under the "Shortcuts" menu at the bottom of the page. You must immediately change your password after the first login for your security.

It is crucial for our students to actively use and regularly check their e-mail addresses. Important information such as the academic calendar, exam announcements, homework, and project notifications will also be shared through these addresses.

In addition, an individual antivirus license has been defined free of charge for all our students; they will be able to register with their edu.tr emails at bitdefender.com.tr/balikesiredu/ and use the free antivirus application.
