Technical Field Trip Jointly Attended by the Machinery and Mechatronics Programs Held on Monday, June 8, 2026
The first stop of the technical trip was SIMTEK, a company where cutting tools—one of the most critical elements of the manufacturing sector—are produced. At SIMTEK, within the scope of their vocational courses, students had the opportunity to observe firsthand how practical applications of courses such as "Cutting Tool Technology," "Measurement and Control," "Unconventional Manufacturing Methods," "Jigs and Fixtures," "CNC Turning and Milling Technology," and "Manufacturing Processes" are carried out in a real-world industrial environment.
Afterward, at Oba Plastik, students had the chance to witness on-site how plastic injection molding machines, which represent one of the primary manufacturing processes, operate using mechatronic systems. They observed on-site how PET material products are molded in preform molds and then produced in final molds under appropriate conditions selected according to cold and hot filling requirements. It was noted that the production fulfills domestic orders as well as export-oriented demands.
Lastly, Burhaniye SVR SEVER MAKİNE company was visited. It was observed that the company houses a laser cutting machine capable of processing up to 20 mm thickness, and manufactures machinery for both domestic and international orders through its unique R&D (Research and Development) activities.
