Olive Oil Tasting Training Held at Edremit Vocational School
An Olive Oil Tasting Training was organized on December 17, 2025, for the students of the Olive Cultivation and Olive Processing Technology Program within the Department of Plant and Animal Production at Balıkesir University Edremit Vocational School.
Zülal TAÇAR, M.Sc. Chemist and Tasting Panel Leader at the Edremit Chamber of Commerce (ETOlab), participated in the training as the guest speaker. Within the scope of the program, both theoretical and practical information was shared regarding the sensory analysis, quality criteria, and tasting techniques of olive oil. Aimed at enhancing the professional knowledge and skills of the students, the training received great interest from the participants.
In the event, which was attended by a total of 20 students, practical exercises were conducted to distinguish the aroma, flavor, and defects of olive oil. Throughout the session, students had the opportunity to gain comprehensive insights supported by industry experience and academic knowledge.
At the conclusion of the training, a certificate of appreciation was presented to M.Sc. Chemist Zülal TAÇAR for her valuable contributions by Asst. Prof. Dr. Tuba ÖNCÜL ABACIGİL, Head of the Department of Plant and Animal Production, and Lecturer Nuray UNAT, Vice Director of Edremit Vocational School. As Edremit Vocational School, it is aimed to continue similar trainings and practices in the coming terms to increase the sectoral competencies of the students.
