Edremit Vocational School and Edremit Municipality Join Forces in Olive Cultivation
Prof. Dr. Gülşen Aydın Keskin, newly appointed as the Director of Edremit Vocational School, visited Edremit Mayor Mehmet Ertaş as part of her initial visits upon taking office. Keskin was accompanied during the visit by Deputy Director Lecturer Nuray Unat and Vocational School Secretary Ferhat Gündüz.
During the meeting, discussions centered on olive cultivation activities—one of Edremit’s vital assets—joint initiatives to contribute to student development, and prospective projects to be implemented between the municipality and the school.
Olive Cultivation Activities Discussed During the visit, efforts to enhance the region’s olive cultivation potential were evaluated, and views were exchanged regarding joint projects in which Edremit Vocational School students could participate.
Focusing on strengthening cooperation between education and local governance, the meeting highlighted the development of initiatives that would allow students to apply their theoretical knowledge in the field.
Joint Project in Olive Oil Production One of the prominent agenda items of the meeting was olive oil production. Edremit Municipality and Balıkesir University Edremit Vocational School plan to collaborate on a joint project regarding olive oil production. Through this planned partnership, the goal is to both support the region’s olive cultivation culture and increase hands-on training opportunities for students.
University-Municipality Collaboration Strengthens The meeting between Edremit Municipality and BAUN EVSH is expected to pave the way for developing new joint projects in the fields of education, agriculture, and local development.
