A Unit Advisory Board Meeting Was Held at Edremit Vocational School
The Unit Advisory Board Meeting of Edremit Vocational School was held on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 14:00 in the Edremit Vocational School Conference Hall, chaired by the Director of the Vocational School, Prof. Dr. Gülşen AYDIN KESKİN.
The meeting was attended by the Assistant Directors of Edremit Vocational School, Lect. Zeki Yahya PATAN and Lect. Nuray UNAT, Vocational School Secretary Ferhat GÜNDÜZ, and Department Heads Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gonca SAKİN, Asst. Prof. Dr. Recep KOÇ, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali IŞIKTAŞ, Lect. Dr. Mehtap YILMAZ, and Lect. Emre ÖZERDOĞAN. Academic staff members of our Vocational School and Quality Student Representative Botan ARKAN also took part in the meeting.
The meeting, held with broad participation from external stakeholders, was attended by Metin TUNÇER, Deputy Mayor of Edremit; Semra YAREN, Edremit İŞKUR Representative; Halim KUBAT, Quality and Environment Manager at Şişecam Elyaf Sanayii A.Ş.; Hürrem TANRIVERDİ, Branch Manager at the National Education Directorate; Nahit DENİZ, Director of Edremit Public Education Center; Fethi BİLGE, Edremit District Director of Youth and Sports; Celil ŞEN, BAÇEM (Balıkesir Farmer Training Center) Representative; Savaş CAN, Board Member of Edremit Chamber of Commerce; and Pınar ÇAKMAK, Assistant Director of Olive Cultivation Station.
First, the decisions taken at the previous Unit Advisory Board meeting and the activities carried out in line with these decisions were evaluated, addressing completed, ongoing, and open-to-improvement issues.
Within the scope of the agenda, views were exchanged on updating course plans and developing curriculum, reflecting sector and stakeholder expectations in educational processes, collaborations and protocols within the framework of the 3+1 Workplace Vocational Training Model, and increasing enterprise diversity and practical training opportunities offered to students.
Increasing students' social and cultural activities, developing social responsibility and volunteer work, and potential joint projects with external stakeholders in community contribution activities were also among the significant agenda items of the meeting.
Furthermore, the accreditation and MEDEK evaluation processes carried out in the programs of our Vocational School were discussed in detail. While committee members were informed about the improvement activities carried out, the opinions and suggestions of the committee members were gathered regarding the development of accreditation processes, reflecting sector expectations in programs, and enhancing external stakeholder contributions.
Evaluating the educational, research-development, and community contribution activities of our Vocational School alongside the current needs and expectations of the sector, mutual ideas were exchanged regarding priority improvement activities and potential collaborations for the 2026–2027 period.
The meeting concluded after receiving the views and suggestions of the Unit Advisory Board members and evaluating joint initiatives that could be carried out in the upcoming period.
