Important Notice
Newly registered students of our university who meet the eligibility criteria for the 5/i Compulsory Foreign Language (English) Course Exemption Exam are not required to submit any application or fill out any forms.
The exam eligibility status for qualifying students will be automatically registered in the system. Eligible students will be able to take the exam on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM at their registered faculty/school buildings by presenting a valid identification document.
1. Date, Time, and Location of the Exam
1.1. The 5/i Compulsory Foreign Language (English) Course Exemption Exam will be administered in person on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM.
1.2. The Exemption Exam will be held simultaneously in designated exam halls within the respective faculty or school buildings where the students are registered.
2. Eligible Students
2.1. Newly enrolled students across all faculties and vocational schools of our university who will be taking the Foreign Language I and Foreign Language II courses included in their curriculum for the first time are eligible to take the exam.
2.2. Among the students of the Faculty of Theology, those who have successfully completed or have been exempted from the Arabic Preparatory Class are eligible to participate in the exam.
2.3. Students may benefit from the exemption right only once throughout their academic studies.
3. Ineligible Students
3.1. Newly enrolled students in the English Language Teaching Program of the Necatibey Faculty of Education,
3.2. Students who have transferred to our university via lateral or vertical transfer (DGS),
3.3. Currently enrolled upper-year students (2nd, 3rd, and 4th years) cannot take this exam.
4. Exam Rules and Guidelines
4.1. The exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions, and the exam duration is 60 minutes.
4.2. Candidates are required to keep an official and valid identification document (Turkish ID Card, Driver’s License, or Passport) visible on their desks during the examination.
4.3. Every candidate taking the exam is deemed to have accepted the announced exam procedures and rules in advance.
5. Evaluation and Exemption Criteria
5.1. In accordance with Article 17/1 of the Balıkesir University Associate and Undergraduate Degree Education Regulations, students must score at least 60 points (equivalent to a CC letter grade or above) in order to be exempted from the Foreign Language courses with codes YDI 1101 and YDI 1201.
5.2. Students scoring 60 and above will be considered successful and exempted from the corresponding courses.
6. Announcement of Results
6.1. Exemption exam results will be officially communicated to the respective Dean's Offices of the faculties and Directorate Offices of the vocational schools where the students are registered.
6.2. Students can access their exam results through the Student Affairs offices of their respective academic units.
